LCCF’s 7th Round of Open Heart Surgeries

We are excited to share that the 7th round of open heart surgeries has successfully concluded. From april 20-27 the medical team from the Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, together with the team in training from Salvatierra Hospital in La Paz, accomplished 13 life-saving cardiac operations for children from Baja California Sur.

These rounds are possible thanks to the joint effort of the Los Cabos Children’s Foundation, the Secretary of Health, the Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha, Opening Hearts, Corazón de Niño, Amigos de los Niños de Cabo San Lucas, A.C. and the State DIF.

Through its spirit of love program, LCCF is commited to helping children with congenital hearth defects in BCS by contributing to build a pediatric cardiology program for the state, in Salvatierra General Hospital in La Paz, BCS.

Since June, 2013 and until April, 2016, 7 surgical rounds were performed in BCS resulting for a total of 81 surgeries on 78 children.

We are proud to introduce the heart heroes whose lives have changed; see their stories below.
