Latest News on Casa Valentina

The Casa Valentina Shelter of the DIF System in Baja California Sur, operates with the participation of people and private and public organizations that provide all the necessary support that childhood cancer patients and their families require during their treatment and battle against cancer. Los Cabos Children’s Foundation (LCCF) is proud to be a part of this great project.

From August to October 2016, the Casa Valentina Shelter, one of the associations benefited through our Spirit of Service program, granted: 697 breakfasts, 494 meals, 499 dinners and 505 lodgings to 30 children of low income families who are battling cancer in company with their caregivers during their treatment, which takes place in the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Unit (UHOP, for its acronym in Spanish) of the Salvatierra Hospital in La Paz, BCS.

In recent months, occupational workshops have been given to caregivers and patients where they learn to make crafts, which can be commercialized and thus contribute to their family economy. These workshops also promote the release of stress and the discovery of the creative potential that each person has. During the last 3 months, 5 courses of “foamy pens”, “keyrings”, “floral arrangements in foamy”, “aromatic candles” and “piñatas” were held for the mothers, fathers and patients of Casa Valentina who were very enthusiastic.

LCCF supports the integral care of the disease by donating to Casa Valentina programs that provide nutrition, rest, moral and psychological support, as well as these workshops for the patients and their families.

You too can be part of this great project! With your support, we will continue to benefit Casa Valentina and 10 other local non-profits that contribute to improve the quality of life of Southern Baja children. Thank you!
